9C: Important dates and information

Social Studies map project is due TOMORROW!

Another reminder that tomorrow September 30th is the last day to bring in picture orders. Also, tomorrow we will be having our annual Terry Fox Run/Walk. Students are reminded to dress for the weather and wear proper footwear.

I’ve also sent home an information sheet about Terry and his accomplishements that I’ve asked the students to fill out. If any parents are interested in donating to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research they can fill in their name, address and the donation amount on this sheet and send the money into me with their child tomorrow.

Finally, there is a province-wide PD Day on Friday, October 1st (No School for students)

Enjoy your long weekend 🙂

7C Science Test- Tuesday September 28th

As I am both the students’ science and social studies teacher we will often have tests around the same time. However, I will not schedule tests on the same day and I always make sure I provided time for revison. Our science test will covers sections 4.1-4.6 in the textbook. Topics to be covered will include the layers of the earth, minerals and mines, and erosion. I will provide the students with a revision sheet over the next few days and I have also gone over the types of questions to expect with the class. As in social studies this will be a short test. In science I try to break up the units and give several little tests instead of one big one as I find it makes it easier for the students to study. Any questions/concerns just let me know.

Bonne chance!

9D and 9E Health

In health class we are currently studying relationships and abuse. We watched the film “A Love that Kills” (a true story about a young girl who was the victim of domestic abuse) and have seen how abuse can take on may forms. We have studied the different kinds of abuse (physical, psychological and sexual) and have had some great class discussions. The students have not had any assignments/tests/projects yet but they will soon receive their first assignment.
