9C Test

We will be having a science test on Friday, November 5th. We will be reviewing in class next week and I will be providing a detailed list of topics to study in the next few days.

Don’t forget that Wednesday, November 3rd is “Take your kid to work day”. All forms should now be handed in (to myself or Ms. Thistle). If you haven’t done so please do this as soon as possible, as all placements MUST be school approved. If students are not particpating in this program they are required to attend classes on that day.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

We’ve been working on group presentations in class on historical figures who have influenced the Middle Ages. The students should be wrapping up their projects. Thursday will be the last day to work on these in class and presentations will start Friday. Any students who are behind should make sure they are working on these at home.

Bonne chance!

9D and 9E Health

In health class we are nearing the end of our study on abuse. Students are working on their assignments inclass. They have already completed a poster and and currently working on analysing abusive scenarios.

Another part of our health program is the portfolio. Most of the students worked on their portfolios in grade 7 and 8 and I’ve asked that any students who still have their portfolios from last year bring them to class. Those who don’t can start fresh. The portfolio is a personal reflection project. Students could include any or all of the following in their porfolios: pictures, work their are proud of (ie. tests, assignments, projects), poems, drawings, stories, resumés, awards, etc.

From time to time I will give the students an assignment that is specifically meant for their portfolio, but I also expect that as grade 9 students they will add to these themselves. Their portfolios do make up a small percentage of their overall mark, so I will be going through them from time to time, making sure that students are adding items as the school year progresses.

Remember your portfolio is a  personal reflection of yourself so feel free to be as open, as honest and as expressive as you’d like 🙂
