Now that everyone is refreshed and back in the swing of things after a great March Break I wanted to give a few updates on this weeks assignments:

7C:

We have started our unit on Rome! Your maps are due on Thursday at the latest, but by now most should have finished. Actualités are due on Friday.

In Science, we are still working on our unit on Heat. We will be having a test in the coming weeks as we draw close to the end of that unit. Your lab reports are due on Friday.

8C:

We have started our unit on New France. Your maps are due today and actualités on Friday.

9C:

We will be finishing up the first part of our electricity unit on Friday with an in-class assignment. Students should review Chapter 9 in preparation for this evaluation. 

Actualités are due on Friday.

Any students who have not handed in their vaccination forms should do so as soon as possible.

9D and 9E:

We have started our unit on Sexuality. Students are reminded of the sensitive nature of this subject.

I’m sure that all of my students are counting down the days until March Break 🙂

Just a few notes as we head into the final days before our time off.

Social Studies Classes (7C, 8C and 9C):

You all have tests tomorrow, March 17th. Please make sure you have reviewed your notes and the review sheets provided in class.

Actualités are due on Friday, March 18th. I will be taking them in over the break so make sure they are up to date. As I will have your scribblers over the break there will be no actualités  due for that week. Enjoy your vacation 🙂

After the break we will be starting our new units! I am looking forward to exploring these new topics with you over the next few weeks.

Grade 9 Health:

Any students who have not handed in their permission forms for the sexuality unit they are now very late. Please make sure they are into me before the break so that we may start this unit when we get back.

Also 9E, Monday after the break is Day 6 and you will have a health walk then. Please dress properly.

We are into another week already and quickly approaching March Break 🙂

Just a few updates:

9C:

1. Students who have not already done so need to get their budget assignments into me as soon as possible.

2. Actualités: Friday, March 11th. I will be taking in your scribblers over March Break so please make sure you are keeping up to date with these assignments.

3. We have started our new science unit on Electricity. This can be a challenging, yet exciting unit. Please make sure you are keeping up to date on your reading and assignments, as to not fall behind before the next test.

4. We will be having a Social Studies test late next week (I’m currently looking at Thursday, March 17th). Please start reviewing your notes (L’economie) and we will be reviewing in class next week.

5. Next week is French Week! I will be looking to my grade 9 students to act as leaders throughout the week. It should be a fun and exciting week “en français”.

8C:

1. Actualités: Friday, March 11th. I will be taking in your scribblers over March Break so please make sure you are keeping up to date with these assignments.

2. We are nearing the end of our unit on the Renaissance. We will be having a test late next week. I would suggest students begin reviewing this weekend and we will be reviewing in class next week.

7C:

2. We are nearing the end of our unit on Greece. We will be having a test late next week. I would suggest students begin reviewing this weekend and we will be reviewing in class next week. Your “cité-états” assignment will be due on Thursday, March 10th.

3. We are still working in Science on Heat. Your histoire du feu is due on Thursday.

9D and 9E:

1. Permission forms for the sexualilty unit are due on Friday, March 11th. Please make sure these are handed in as soon as possible.

2. Portfolios: If you have anything to add to your portfolio/overdue assignements, please make sure they are into me by the end of next week. I will be correcting your portfolios over the break.

I hope you are all enjoying this little Thursday vacation that Mother Nature has given us!

Just a few reminders and notes:

Grade 9:

Your science test will now be tomorrow. If you haven’t already done so, make sure your read over the chapter and your notes and mark the pages so you can best utilise them during the test.

Your budget assignment is still due on Monday, March 7th. Parents this assignment is in no way an attempt to find out your personal business, but rather to help your children realize the amount of time and money that is spent running a household. If you would like to use fictional numbers that is fine, but remember your assignment is just to create a list of the top ten items/services your family spends money on and brainstorm ways that you can help add to your family’s economic situation.

Ski trip is tomorrow night at Brookvale. We will be leaving shortly after school and returning around 11pm. I’m looking forward to this exciting activity!

Grade 8:

Tomorrow we will be working on your research of a “modern humanist”. If you are not able to finish this assignment in class, I’d ask that you complete it over the weekend and hand it in on Monday.

Grade 7:

We are continuing our unit on Heat in Science. I’m looking forward to next week, as I have a lot of interesting activities planned 🙂

Due to the storm, we will be holding off on our research assignment until Monday. We will be working in class to complete it on Monday and Tuesday and if all goes as planned it will be due on Wednesday, March 9th.

Social Studies Classes (Grade 7, 8 and 9):

Don’t forget your actualités! I will be collecting them very soon 🙂

Health Classes:

We will soon be starting our unit on Sexuality. I will be sending home permission forms either tomorrow or early next week depending on the class and I would like to have these forms back into me by Friday, March 11th. If parents have any concerns please feel free to contact me by email or telephone.  Also, as always please remember to dress warmly for our walks. Winter isn’t over yet and it’s for your own warmth and benefit that you remember your coat, hat and mitts.
