Almost March!

It’s hard to believe, but it is almost March! I want to send out a huge thanks to all the Grade 9 students for a great day last Thursday at the French for the Future Career fair.

With all of the storm days, hour delays and winter carnival activities that have happened over the past few weeks I wanted to update on the status of a few projects:

9C-Your French project (transformation des contes) is due tomorrow, Wednesday, February 27th. Your FPS questions on “Intervention” are due on Thursday, February 28th.

8C-Your French project (Notre menu) is due on Monday, March 4th. Don’t forget to speak with your group members to make sure you have everything you need.

7C-Your French project (Guide d’amitié) is due on Thursday, February 28th.

Next week we will be starting class novel studies in all three French classes (9C-Toujours plus haut, 8C-Carmen en fugue mineure, and 7c-Aller/Retour). Students may be asked to do some reading or responding at home or during CCAP from time to time over the next few weeks.

Have a wonderful week folks 🙂 Only a few more until March Break 🙂

Tomorrow’s Field Trip

Good afternoon folks,

Just a reminder of our field trip to the French for the Future Career Fair, which will take place tomorrow, Thursday, February 21st at the Confederation Center of the Arts. Snacks and Lunch will be provided (fruit, pizza and juice), however those students who require special dietary options should pack a lunch to bring along with them.

In the event that there is a school closure or an hour delay at any school in the province, this event will be cancelled and rescheduled for another day, as per the Department of Education policy.

Therefore, if there is a closure or delay at another school, but not at Montague Intermediate, students will attend regular classes and will thus need to bring a snack/lunch to school with them tomorrow.

Looking forward to a great field trip,

Madame Walker

Parent-Teacher Interviews/Field Trip

My deepest apologies for not having updated my blog in recent days. It’s hard to believe how fast this year is flying by and that we are already into February. January flew by with our Grade 9’s successfully completing their first set of exams 🙂

Tomorrow evening, Thursday, February 7th from 6:00-8:30pm and on Friday, February 8th from 9:00-12:00pm and from 1:00-3:00pm we will be having our second set of interviews here at MIS. Reports cards will be available at this time and I will also pass back the grade 9 exams. I look forward to seeing you all and to chatting about your child’s/children’s progress.

Next week is the annual MIS Winter Carnival. We will have a fun-filled week of activities planned including several spirit days, a dance, a student/teacher hockey/ringette game and a pancake breakfast.

On February 21st, the Grade 9 class will travel to the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown to participate in the French for the Future annual career day. This will be a great opportunity to students to socialize with other French immersion students and to learn about possible job opportunities in French, before they make their course selection for next year, which will happen during the first weeks of March. More information on Grade 10 registration will be available soon. Permission forms for the career fair are due into me along with $2.00 to help with busing costs on Monday, February 11th. Feel free to bring your child’s permission form with you to interviews and if you have any questions on this activity please don’t hesitate to ask.

In Science, we are currently working through our unit on Reproduction and there will be a test on Chapter 6 sometime next week.

In Health, we are working through our unit on drugs and will soon start our portfolio assignment.

In Grade 9 French, students are working on transforming a fairytale, adding details, changing vue points and writing using le passé simple.

In Grade 8 French, students are finishing up their unit on food are are getting ready to start their final project: Creating their own restaurant and menu.

In Grade 7 French, we are working on our friendship theme, and have started our final project “Le guide d’amitié” where students are working in groups, creating a friendship how-to guide.

Again, my apologies for the tardiness of updates and I hope to see you all at interviews 🙂
