Week of June 9th-13th

What a great time we had on Friday at le Salon du livre! I was very impressed with my students’ behaviour and it was so exciting getting to meet authors whose work we have read in class 🙂

Things are very busy here at Gulf Shore and will continue to be until the end of June. I would again remind everyone that even though the weather is nice and the days are getting longer, there is still a lot of learning left to happen 🙂

I will be sending home permission slips later on this week for our year-end field trip to Sandspit on June 19th (rain date: June 20th) Please return these forms and the money as soon as possible.

Here is a look at what is happening inside our classroom this week:

Grade 5

French- For our dictée this week we will continue to review concepts previously worked on this year in preparation for our dictée on Day 6.

In French class this week, we will continue to read the novel “Sophie lance et compte”, and will be doing some writing activities reflecting on the work we’ve done this year and our goals for next year.

This week in math, we will finish our unit on probability and will start our final unit on transformations. I am so pleased with the results of our last “flashback” quiz. My students have taken such ownership of their learning this year and the results were all around fantastic! I would encourage each and everyone to keep up the great work next year!

In Science with Mme Isabelle, the students continue to study Space and the Solar System.

Finally, we will be finishing up our year with a short unit of Health on wellness choices 🙂

Grade 7 and 8 Science

This week we will continue to explore food chains, learn about the impact of microorganisms on our environment and will have a review and a quiz on the sections of our unit on ecosystems we’ve covered to date.

Have a wonderful week!

Madame April Walker
