Week of May 29-June 2

This week we turn the calendar over to June and the last month of the school year. The next few weeks will be jam-packed as always, as we wrap up our learning and begin to celebrate the accomplishments of our Gulf Shore family these past 10 months.

This will also be our first full week of school in a while. I’m looking forward to a wonderful week of learning!

Here is a sneak peek into what will be taking place in the coming days.

French-Over the next few classes we will wrap up assessments for our unit in #LaClasse. We will also dive deeper into the comic strip, as we look at the different characteristics of this text form and begin writing a few together.

Science-Tomorrow, students will finish up their oral presentations. On Wednesday, they will write their assessment on the outcomes related to Space (chapter 6). Finally, later on this week or early next week, we will kick off our final unit of the year: technology and engineering, beginning with a few fun instant challenges.

Grade 9 Science-Our work looking at the parts and functions of the musculoskeletal system continues this week. We will even “dissect” a chicken leg, as we get up close and personal with bones and muscles. Students are reminded of their quiz on these concepts which will take place on Friday, June 2nd. There is a study guide and some review games in Google Classroom to help them to study.

Grade 7 Science-This week we will finish up our look at the earth’s crust. Students will then begin their project for these outcomes, where they will create a short story, game or song outlining what they’ve learned.

Grade 9 English Science-After making some adjustments to them, students will take their electric cars on a final test drive this week. They will also prepare for and write their chapter 11 assessment (current electricity) and begin a case study on wind energy.

Have a fantastic week!
